Wednesday 10/1 - Determining Mass and Volume of Liquids

WARM-UP: Write the definition for interpolation and extrapolation in your lab journal. What is the relationship of the mass of water to the volume of water? for ethanol?

Homework: READ Investigate Part B: Mass and Volume of Solids

Write a procedure in your lab journal to calculate the mass/volume ratio and slope of the graph for Play Dough and for Silly Putty. Use the method diagrammed on pg 51 for measuring the volume of each solid. (Hint - Use the procedure from Part A as a guide.)

Thursday 10/2 - Determining Mass and Volume of Solids

As a group, decide on a procedure to calculate the mass/volume ratio and slope of the graph for each material. With each student in the group taking a turn, record your procedure on your Board.
